Five areas that will help support strong student achievement.
Greetings:
We are pleased that you are visiting the website of Boyertown Area School District. Our district’s mission is “to enable all students to succeed in a changing world” and that focus is the basis of all that we do. The Boyertown Area School District believes that parents, guardians and the entire community want us to focus on student achievement and we are committed to that end. We know that attention on the five following areas will help support strong student achievement.
Curriculum and Academic Goals
“What is Taught and Learned”
What is it that we expect all students to know and be able to do by grade and subject? Excellent school systems have clear academic expectations from kindergarten through twelfth grade. Principals and teachers understand the learning goals and understand that these goals are for all students.
Staff Selection, Leadership and Professional Development
“Selecting and Developing People”
Once the academic goals of the system are clear, the teachers, administrators and support staff must be selected and provided with professional development to make these goals a reality for every learner in the system.
Instructional Programs, Practices and Arrangements
“The Right Stuff - Time and Tools”
Strong instructional leaders and highly qualified teachers and support staff need the appropriate tools and resources to reach high standards with every learner.
Monitoring: Compilation, Analysis, and Use of Data
“Knowing the Learners and the Numbers”
How are we going to know if students learned what we said they would learn? Schools need to regularly monitor student achievement and use the results to make informed decisions about students and curriculum.
Recognition, Intervention, and Adjustment
“Ensuring All Children Learn”
What are we going to do if students do not learn the knowledge and skills we said they would learn? Excellent school systems determine ways to provide students with intense interventions when needed.
We look forward to the challenge of providing a strong system for the students of Boyertown Area School District.
